Kitcherie Recipe

Basic Kitcherie recipe that I used today. Had it for breakfast topped with fried onions, and for lunch with hard-boiled eggs.

1 cup uncooked rice
1/4 cup split yellow lentils, soaked for at least 20 minutes
1 medium potato, diced and microvaed for 1 minute
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp mustard seeds
1/2 tsp turmeric
1/2 tsp salt
4 1/2 cups water
ghee

Instructions:
1. Heat the ghee in the rice cooker.
2. Once the ghee is hot enough, add the mustard seeds and allow to it to pop. Then add the rest of the spices (ground cumin, cumin seeds, turmeric, salt).
3. Add the diced potato, mix, mix, mix. Add the rice and lentils, mix, mix, mix.
4. Add the water.
5. Cover the rice cooker and just let the rice cooker do the rest.
6. Serve it with ghee, top it with fried onions (not sattvic but adds more excitement to it), add sliced boiled eggs or steamed veggies on the side.
7. Enjoy.
