Yoga 4 Isko

The goal... to create awareness and bring yoga to the Filipino youth.

Participants in balasana or child's pose.

 Ekam... inhale...

 Saluting to the sun...

 Dve... exhale...

 Shat... exhale...

In padmasana (lotus) practicing a simple breathing exercise.

 My teacher's vision continues...

Stillness.

The Lunatic Monk

I am an Ashtanga Yoga teacher living in Japan. I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area and attended the University of California at Santa Cruz (Environmental Studies program). I have lived all over the States (Washington State, Idaho, Arizona, Boston and NYC). I was most recently in Manhattan between 1999 and 2004. I moved to Tokyo in 2004 to be with my beloved wife Mae and now reside with her in the southwest of Japan in Fukuoka.

I am passionate about the practice of yoga and most everything associated with the practice. I am a deeply spiritual person and spend most of my life seeking the deeper meanings of all things. That in essence, is why I am passionate about the living foods diet and lifestyle. There is no question in my mind that eating and living in this fashion creates the ground from which one can develop the highest potential of human evolution and consciousness.

I travel extensively and love to do so. There is so much magic and wonder in this world. So much light and truth to share. - Govinda Kai

First Filipina AYRI-authorized Teacher

Amy Santos began practicing yoga as a college student in the late 1980s. In 2003, she was authorized by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois to teach the Ashtanga Yoga method. In 2009, Amy was invited to participate in the first authorized teacher training of the KPJAYI in Mysore, India, and now holds authorization level 2 status. She has also received teaching certification from the Sivananda and Laughing Lotus Yoga Centers, and studies in New York with Eddie Stern. In addition to ashtanga, she enjoys teaching yoga to NYC public school children through Bent on Learning.

Amy is grateful to her Guru, Mata Amritanandamayi, for opening her heart and gracing her with the opportunity to serve others.

Amy hold both a BS and MA from New York University, but still considers herself a student of life. In addition to teaching and practicing, she is a professional dancer. She lives in Brooklyn with her husband Steve, their dog Shanti, and their cat Geetha.

Amy offers her knowledge of Ashtanga in the spirit of Guruji's teachings, and hopes that all her students experience the joy, wellness, and blessings that she herself has received from a steadfast faith in this divine practice.
