New Yoga Thailand now open
We hope you are well and that this new year is opening up nicely for you.
We opened our new center in early December, picking up where we left off. We went straight back into teaching and practice, paying close attention to recreating the wholesome, nurturing atmosphere that gave the original Yoga Thailand its character and authenticity.
We have built our structure and fine-tuned our operations over the last year, with the purpose of keeping alive the spirit of yoga and healthy living while, at the same time, raising the standards of yoga education.
We urge you to take a look at our website, so you can see what’s already in place. Our new shala, with its bamboo wood floor, has received all the energy of the old place and multiplied it. Our food is as tasty and easy as ever but with even more choices and options. We are also adapting a more holistic approach in our Wellness offering, so that you can easily combine your yoga practice with specific treatments and cleanse-detox programs. Alternatively, you may choose to focus more on detox and be lighter on the yoga practice. Either way, you are welcome to join us at Yoga Thailand.

“The very purpose of spirituality is to control yourself, not to criticize others. How much am I doing about my anger? About my attachment, about my hatred, about my pride, my jealousy? These are the things which we must check in daily life.”
- Dalai Lama
Well, it’s not easy. The real answer is to develop the stability within. This is what yoga offers, but of course it can only be earned and you must make an effort.
Take care of yourself. Clean up the body, strengthen it. Develop your breathing. Calm and focus your mind. All this affects every part of your life. It’s not just about time on a yoga mat or a healthy holiday. You must take charge and invest your time and energy in increasing your wellbeing, thereby affecting the welfare of everyone else you come in contact with. It’s both a personal and social responsibility. Allow us to encourage and help you.
- Paul
All forms of life have evolved out of the oceans and on to land, and despite millions of years of evolution the human body is still 70% to 80% saline solution. It is therefore imperative that we adequately hydrate the body throughout the day.
Amazingly, most people are dehydrated and don’t even know it. The quality and quantity of the water you drink is important. Ideally, your water should have a high pH value (from 7.0 to 9.5), and it should be living ionic water full of natural minerals—the way Mother Nature intended. The water cluster sizes should be small, and they should be mobile to penetrate the body’s membranes and reach the cells to be hydrated.
The average person needs to drink between 1.5 to 2 liters of water, not all at once but throughout the day. The more tea, coffee, and carbonated beverages you drink, the higher the body’s requirement for healthy, vibrant, living water.
Recognizing the importance of good quality water and proper hydration, Yoga Thailand has installed on its premises a seven-step filtration system that alkalizes, ionizes, and reduces water’s cluster size, increasing its bioavailability and hydrating properties.
- Neil

AcroYoga
with Jason Nemer, co-founder of AcroYoga 10 – 15 April, Tsim Sha Tsui AcroYoga blends the spiritual wisdom of yoga, the loving kindness of Thai massage, and the dynamic power of Acrobatics. These three ancient lineages form the foundation of a unique new practice that cultivates trust, connection and playfulness. Their highest aim is to bring individuals into a state of union with themselves, with each other, and with the divine. From this place of mutual support the true self can be realised, honoured and shared for the benefit of all.
The AcroYoga Fundamentals is to open your practice with the ease, comfort and support of a partner. This workshop touches upon all the disciplines that AcroYoga offers. The class experience includes: Circle Ceremony, Mirrored Asana, Partner Yoga Flow, Assisted Inversions, Partner Acrobatics, Flying Sequences and Thai Massage. Grounded in the breath, we will draw upon the natural forces of gravity and "metta" loving kindness to encourage the body to let go of fear and tension. Open to all levels of students who have familiarity with yoga.

Vipassana Meditation Philippines
Next 10-day course is on April 1-12, 2009. Click here for the Vipassana Philippines webpage and here to apply for the 10-day course.
"Sleeping late, practicing late, no pranayama, all asanas." This is how I'd describe my days in the last 2 weeks.
Practice was good this morning although I could feel the stiffness of the body. I wonder if my daily morning coffee is making the muscle tremble in the state of asana.
Most probably.
But I just bought my first Monk's Blend coffee yesterday and man it's one of the best I've had. The last pack that I bought was the Batangas Blend and although it was also good, I believe I've found my local blend.
Not sattvic, I know. But what to do? Guruji used to say (or so I heard), "have coffee before practice... gives you courage." Especially during dropbacks and kapotasana.
As always, moderation is the key.
My new year's mantra, "support local products... tatak Pinoy, tatak Pilipino!" :-p
