I'm very impressed with your blog. I was searching for Ashtanga yoga in Manila when I discovered this site. We're going home this June and you have lots of useful information about vegetarian restaurants, beaches etc. And you have very useful yoga links as well. I'm a fan now and I will be checking your site from time to time.

I hope you're enjoying New Zealand with John Scott.

BTW, do you teach at Yoga Manila? David Keil mentioned that he's doing a workshop there in April. He goes to the DC area to do a week of Mysore and he's really awesome. Anyway, I hope I can attend some of the Mysore classes in Manila.

Namaste,
Heidi

Hi Heidi,

Thanks for visiting my site. I'm glad you find the site useful.

Yes, John and Lucy are awesome! 2 more days and I'll be on my way back to Manila. I hope I'd be able to study with them again in the future.

Yup, I teach at Yoga Manila in Ortigas (EDSA Shangri-La Hotel). I heard about that workshop too but I haven't heard any confirmation from the YM managers yet. I usually post confirmed workshops here in my blog so please do check it once in a while for updates.

Do come at Yoga Manila for Mysore. We have branches in Alabang, Makati and Ortigas.

Looking forward to your visit.

Namaste.

Hi Jon,

Thanks for the quick reply. I really do hope I can do some Mysore classes with you.

Anyway, do you know of any beach resorts in the Philippines that offer yoga classes in their premises? Parang similar sa set-up ng Yoga Thailand (yoga/spa facility).

Namaste,
Heidi

Hello Heidi,

Similar to YT (ashatanga+spa), there's none so far. There's supposed to be one in Samar but I don't know what happened to the project.

You might want to try Mandala Spa in Boracay. Not sure if they still have Ashtanga in their program but they have a yoga vacation program.

Thanks Jon for the info. Been to Boracay and sobrang dami ng tao so we're looking for "quieter" beaches. That's the nice thing about Ashtanga, you can do it anywhere because the poses are there for you.

BTW, my husband and I are looking at his co-worker's web page sa Mysore shala. And we thought it was you in one of these pictures. Do you know Julian di Giovanni?

Wow small world talaga! Yup, Julian. We met in Mysore in 2007.

Sayang yung place sa Samar dapat but I don't think the project pushed through. Their website isn't online anymore.

How long have you been practicing?

Unknown said...

Started doing yoga but mostly vinyasa in NY in 2003. Started doing Mysore in 2008 but got pregnant with my second child so I slowed down. Picked up Mysore again last October and started doing workshops again, most recently with Kino Macgregor and sa May with Lino. These are weekend workshops only. I hope I can find the time to take one month and go to the India.

BTW, backbends are my enemy and hopefully I can practice with you to help me out.

The journey of motherhood... you should meet the YM ladies. Most of them are working moms also.

Backbends, ahhh... everyone's nemesis... ;-) Will take note of that one. I learned a lot of techniques from John and Lucy.
