Durian Madness

The madness began with a cheesecake... I was in Bo's Coffee in Torres to meet a college friend and I had this with cappuccino.  Once the plate was served on my table, I immediately took the fork, sliced a piece of the cheesecake, and was ready to have a taste of this heavenly treat when I thought, "Wait, I have to share this to everyone."  I returned the piece back to the rest of the cake, brought the ipod out of my pocket, and took this photo.  This was last friday.

Oh My Ginataang Gulay

This is probably one of my favorite dishes from home.  One of my father's relatives, Uncle Remy, lives with us and cooks our meals.  He makes this dish beautifully and I had this twice already since I moved back to Davao 11 days ago.  I'm here temporarily while I wait for the decision on my resident visa application in one of the coldest countries in the world.  The decision should be positive but I just don't want to talk about it until I have the permit in my hands.

Farewell lunches and dinners had been made but I'm still here so I'll talk about it when it's time to board the plane.

Authorized and Certified Ashtanga Teachers Visit the Philippines

One of the more popular posts of this blog got to be the "Philippines: An Ashtanga Country."  With five ashtanga teachers (three authorized and two certified) coming to conduct classes, workshops and retreats in the country this 2011, ashtanga in the Philippines is definitely growing.  To know about the difference between an authorized from a certified ashtanga teacher, read here.

Govinda Kai, my lovely friend Tesa's teacher, will hold mysore classes on July 26-27 and August 1-4 at Bliss Yoga Manila.  The weekend in between (July 27-31) will be a yoga retreat in Nasugbu.  Details are posted in Tesa's blog.

Also on the first week of August, Jessica Blanchard will be teaching mysore and led classes at Yoga Manila Ortigas (August 1-7).  She will also conduct a weekend workshop on ayurveda and will be available for private consultation for the duration of her stay.  The details are posted here.

Back in the Durian City

It's been two weeks since my last post.  I was planning to be more active now that I'm back in Davao but so far I haven't done anything except eat, sleep, and do asanas.

Tuesday, July 12.  I was supposed to fly home that day but I wasn't able to finish packing and clearing my rented room monday morning that I decided to rebook my flight so that I didn't need to rush and stress myself.  There were so much stuffs.  I couldn't believe the amount of things that I've accumulated in the last 2.5 years in Manila! I was able to fill in 12 big garbage bags with papers, shoe boxes, old-not-worn-again clothes, etc.  My landlord even wondered how I was able to manage to put those things inside my small rented space.  I also wondered.

The extra free days really helped though because I was able to organize my thoughts and decided to ship some stuffs home.  I thought I'd be able to carry it all in the plane since I bought extra luggage allowance.  In the end, it was just too much so I had to send two boxes through a local shipping company.

Letting go... it's not really that easy.
