Flight delayed...

At the Davao International Airport just waiting. Flight was delayed by 3 hours. The airline offered some provisions... chickenjoy and water. Good thing I had dinner before I left home so I'm good. I won't starve really.

Mind is fragmented. Can't think of anything to write... haven't been writing for a while... except for that vegetarian eatery, my bro's birthday, and time spent with family and frients... nothing worth blogging happened. The vegetarian eatery, I've blogged already... my bro's birthday and time with family and friends... priceless. Photos will be uploaded soon... but not today.

Cheers.

Vegelicious Cuisine Davao

Fritz and I were supposed to look for this Evergreen Chinese vegetarian restaurant in Uyanguren (Davao City) but the Universe led us to this small but really nice and friendly eatery... Vegelicious Cuisine. 5 viands, 3 cups of rice, 2 glasses of fresh melon juice... all for only 150php (3.5USD). Too bad I wasn't into picture-taking lately so I didn't have camera with me. Anyway, for my Dabawenyo brothers and sisters, check the place out. It's right in the corner of Monteverde and Sales Streets, in front of RCBC Sta. Ana. You can also call them at (63 82) 2255612. Look for Maricel.

Johann's birthday today. He's now 13 years old. Will post some of his new photos soon. Ciao.

Project Air

What is Project Air?

Called “an idea whose time has finally come,” Project Air is a not-for-profit organization that has implemented a unique program to help allay some of the trauma and mental health issues left in the wake of the 1994 Rwandan Genocide. Focusing on HIV+ women and their children, Project Air uses yoga to help genocide rape survivors manage the devastating effects of catastrophic sexual violence and HIV/AIDS. For the past two years, in collaboration with the medical NGO WE-ACTx, Project Air has reached thousands of HIV+ women and children, prompting the UN to endorse its work—the first time the UN has ever given formal endorsement to a yoga initiative.

To deliver on its mission to help the world’s most vulnerable girls and women, Project Air is now planning its first major regional expansion into Eastern Congo—one of the most dangerous places in the world to be a girl or woman. There, Project Air will work with treatment facilities that are performing life-saving fistula operations for survivors of the horrific rapes that have become the hallmark of the decade’s-old conflict in the region.

To Geek or Not to Geek

Brain and nose is bleeding already from reading all these books and articles.

Was reading the Handbook for Researchers (OVCRD, 2007) and...

The committees meet separately to evaluate research proposals within their areas of concern. The number of evaluation meetings may vary depending on the quality and number of the proposals being evaluated.

These committees evaluate the research proposal based on the following criteria:
  1. Quality of Proposal - originality/novelty of ideas; scientific or artistic merit and soundness of methodology;
  2. Timeliness and Relevance - significance to current issues/scientific or artistic domain;
  3. Consonance of proposed budget with the research activities and expected output;
  4. Status of proponent with the University;
  5. Track record of proponent;
  6. Potential of publishing a manuscript; policy and programmatic implications; technology innovation with commercial possibilities.

To geek or not to geek? That is the question.
